A Methodical Approach to Analyzing and Synthesizing a Self-Repairing Computer
نویسنده
چکیده
The literature on computer reliability is replete with very convincing arguments for the need and the use of self-repair techniques, as a viable approach to significantly enhancing the reliability of both maintainable and nonmaintainable computers. However, it would seem that no comprehensive and coherent program for the development and optimal employment of such techniques exists. This means that no method exists in the open literature for deciding the following: 1) what self-repair techniques, taken singularly or in combination, provide the greatest improvement in reliability; 2) what methods are optimum for initiating fault diagnosis and self-repair by redundancy and replacement; 3) what constitutes a closed set of selfrepair techniques and what theory can be formulated to demonstrate the set's completeness; and 4) what is the effect of self-repair on the total system relative to design, maintenance, availability, and so forth. Although several investigators have addressed themselves to some of the subproblems presupposed by items 1) through 4), no one seems to have considered the possibility of resolving such problems by the development and methodical employment of a comprehensive systems-effectiveness measure. Such an approach, together with some of its results, is described in this paper.

A Fast and Self-Repairing Genetic Programming Designer for Logic Circuits
Usually, important parameters in the design and implementation of combinational logic circuits are the number of gates, transistors, and the levels used in the design of the circuit. In this regard, various evolutionary paradigms with different competency have recently been introduced. However, while being advantageous, evolutionary paradigms also have some limitations including: a) lack of con...

To explore the effectiveness of using flipped classroom approach, a group of 40 male 10th graders in the city of Babol, selected randomly through cluster sampling, was assigned to two classes one of which was taught using the said approach while in the other the traditional method was implemented. Both groups were pre- and post-tested on computer self-efficacy and classroom perception and then ...

متن کاملAn Improvement over Random Early Detection Algorithm: A Self-Tuning Approach
Random Early Detection (RED) is one of the most commonly used Active Queue Management (AQM) algorithms that is recommended by IETF for deployment in the network. Although RED provides low average queuing delay and high throughput at the same time, but effectiveness of RED is highly sensitive to the RED parameters setting. As network condition varies largely, setting RED's parameters with fixed ...
متن کاملA Novel Approach to Feature Selection Using PageRank algorithm for Web Page Classification
In this paper, a novel filter-based approach is proposed using the PageRank algorithm to select the optimal subset of features as well as to compute their weights for web page classification. To evaluate the proposed approach multiple experiments are performed using accuracy score as the main criterion on four different datasets, namely WebKB, Reuters-R8, Reuters-R52, and 20NewsGroups. By analy...
